Abstract/Contents: | Problems arose from poor soil water conditions causing compaction of the upper soil layer, insufficient permeability and excessive water retention, primarily due to too high a proportion of fine particles (< 0.06 mm) in the upper layer. These factors were often linked to insufficient maintenance and adverse site factors, such as shade. Poor sward quality and uneven turf resulted, with a reduction of the proportion of Lolium perenne and Poa pratensis and an increase in P. annua and weeds, such as Trifolium repens and Plantago spp. |
