| Abstract/Contents: | Experiments showed that the relative amount of P. annua was reduced and that of other turf grass species, such as P. pratensis, Lolium perenne, Festuca rubra and Agrostis tenuis, increased with 4 kg/ha Tribunil [methabenzthiazuron] or 10 1/ha Nortron [ethofumesate]. The use of (NH4) SO4 rather than NH4 NO3 reduced the amount of P. annua in sports turf and golf greens and also encouraged the other species. In a sod production field, allowing the grass to grow long in May and June before mowing and the use of a herbicide (Nortron or Tribunil) reduced the amount of P. annua. |
