| Abstract/Contents: | Explains that maintenance practices which promote sustainability and cost efficiency may be beneficial for Florida golf courses during periods of economic recession. Details several adjusted maintenance procedures implemented during the 2008 recession, mentioning that "it is finally being realized and accepted that all bunkers do not have to be completely raked every day. This is a great example of where cost savings can be achieved and at the same time the common problem of very soft bunker sand minimized." Suggests that golfer demand for lush green turf has resulted in excessive irrigation on Florida golf courses. |
