| Abstract/Contents: | "A major objective of sports turf research is to provide information for the practical benefit of the turf manager in the field. Priorities in current research should therefore reflect the nature of advisory enquiries. Over the last 3 years 73% of enquiries directed to this department have related to fine turf, in particular the construction, establishment and maintenance of sand-based greens. The principal concerns have been the supply of suitable local sands for construction, together with the choice of turf and its nutrition, particularly in relation to phosphate inputs. In addition, the identification and control of seedling diseases and the incidence and control of dry patch have featured regularly." |
