Abstract/Contents: | Bermudagrass turf is overseeded with cool-season grasses during the fall and winter months in order to maintain a playing surface with desirable green color, improved traction, and better traffic tolerance, plus recuperative potential. In addition, golf course fairways are also overseeded to clearly mark suggested landing areas for golfers. Successful overseeding is a sequential procedure requiring proper timing and seedbed preparation. Planning is the key to a properly prepared seed bed, correct timing, and careful selection of varieties. Post planting maintenance is very important. |
