Abstract/Contents:"The use of point quadrats for botanical analysis is well established, the theory and practice of the method being described in a definitive paper by Goodall (1952). Methods for assessing turfgrass ground cover were discussed by Woolhouse (1976) who described a mechanical point quadrat frame for use on turf and a simple optical point quadrat, an improved version of which is described by Canaway (1979). A new specialised point quadrat, designed for work on mown (up to 25 mm tall) swards has now been developed and has been used with satisfactory results since late 1979." A description of the apparatus is given.
