Abstract/Contents: | "The United States government and other federally regulated bodies are desperately trying to control an uncontrollable issue of hazardous chemical waste and the hazard to employees in the work place." The Occupational Safety and Health Administration for the Department of Labor developed guidelines which state that the hazard communication programs are to be designed to educate the employer and the employee in the awareness of hazardous chemicals in the work place. The Federal Register was also designed to inform the manufacturers and importers of chemicals of their responsibilities to furnish information to the purchaser with the proper labeling, and hazards that could be involved with shipped chemicals. Each department that uses chemicals has the need for a basic hazardous communication program. Obtain a copy of The Federal Register, file the MSDS of the chemicals that are used in the work place, make the program available to all your employees that handle the chemicals, and train new employees on regular basis. |
