Abstract/Contents: | The future of the turfgrass industry is a complex issue and is as unpredictable as the stock market. The issues they can control are sales, image, employees and management, which are the best issues for strategic planning. Effective strategic planning depends on making decisions, setting goals and acting on today's issues. Some other areas of concern that require urgent attention are new customers, safety, new equipment and budget constraints. Some of the strategic planning should include: customer satisfaction, additional product sales, and referrals from customers. A strategy for growth should include: increasing market share, creative expansion of service area, and expansion of profit centers. There are precautions and challenges involved in this but establishing and monitoring daily goals leads to fullfillment of long range goals. |
