Abstract/Contents:Slopes are a year around soil erosion problem unless they are carefully and constantly covered with plants, structural materials or both. The steeper the slope, the more difficult it is to maintain the grass. Steeper slopes need terraces or walls for support. Dry walls should slope into the bank. Groundcovers eventually transform slopes into areas of minimum maintenance. During establishment, careful maintenance may be necessary to keep down weeds and keep plants well watered during hot, dry weather.
