Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the attendance of turfgrass scientist Dr. Brian Horgan at International Green Construction Code meetings hosted by the International Code Council (ICC). Reports the proposal of a 40 percent ceiling for turfgrass cover on construction sites, suggesting that "this provision was obviously gleaned straight from the 2009 EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] WaterSense Program to bolster site sustainability goals." Mentions Dr. Horgan's response to these proposals, including the reference of over 25 research materials demonstrating the potential environmental benefit of turfgrasses. Announces a ban lift on PCNB (quintozene) and details various events to be hosted by the Minnesota Golf Course Superintendents Association in fall 2011. |
