Abstract/Contents: | A new process called Primestan(R) (Stanford Seed) brings seed close to the point of radical emergence and then suspends it in this state until conditions are favorable for the resumption of the germination process. Gnome Kentucky Bluegrass was chosen for Primestan(R) because it is considered an advanced generation bluegrass. Seven day germination is acheived under normal conditions and gives the fast start capability of ryegrass, but the desirable qualities of bluegrass. Only speed of germination is affected. Turf establishment is more rapid due to faster germination. Broadleaf weed control improved due to faster establishment rate of the grass combined with the aggressive nature of Gnome. |
