| Abstract/Contents: | The first trial was sown in 1977 and the second a year later. They were maintained at low fertility and cut once a year. Fifty-four cvs are described in respect of heading date and growth rate and the results are compared with other UK and Dutch data. Winter damage and disease (Micronectriela nivalis and Corticium fuciforme) are discussed in relation to the amount of growth at the start of winter. Observations on ground cover and appearance are also reported. The results are discussed in relation to the choice of cvs for low fertility regimes. Heading date is likely to be the main factor influencing performance. |
