Abstract/Contents: | The greens at Skylinks Golf Course suffered from poor drainage. David Fleming, regional superintendent of American Golf Corporation and superintendent of Skylinks, chose a stripdrain over a conventional pipe and aggregate drain for his course because a stripdrain is more cost efficient and can be installed quickly with minimal turf disturbance. The stripdrain he selected was the J-DRain. His crew installed over 1000 feet of it which has a flow capacity of 7 gallons per minute per foot. The turf was only closed for two days and within two months the newly sodded areas have completely blended in with the existing turf. The method of installation is illustrated in the article. Stripdrains provide simple solutions to complex drainage problems on both natural and synthetic turf. |
