| Abstract/Contents: | Describes the two week resurfacing project at Stockton College's during 2011 on the track running the perimeter of the soccer field in the middle of summer heat and humidity. Explains how administrators would not allow the field's irrigation systems to run during renovations. for fear of getting water on the cured track surface. Notes the field is a mixture of Poa, bluegrass, ryegrass, fescue, and bentgrass, and head groundskeeper David Wood expressed concern about the high sodium and deficient potassium levels in the soil. States that "I wanted to get some recovery in this field...I changed my topdressing program from a straight sand to a 70/20/10 mix incorporating a little peat moss and soil." Details the post-renovation turf maintenance practices, mentioning that Woods immediately applied zeolite and organic fertilizers in order to return the field to playable condition as quickly as possible. |
