| Abstract/Contents: | 1989 study to evaluate several commercial and experimental herbicides for preemergent control of crabgrass in an established Adelphi and Kenblue Kentucky bluegrass turf near Lexington, Ky. Nitrogen was applied at 1.5#N/1000 square feet in October 1988. In late March 1989, the area was vertically mowed, raked, and seeded with crabgrass seed. Initial treatments were applied on April 14 and repeats were applied on June 19. Three replications of forty-two treatments were applied to individual 6' x 10' plots. The area was maintained at 1.5 inches. Irrigation was applied only as necessary to prevent dormancy. Tables provide % crabgrass control on 7/27 and 8/31 for various Monsanto experimental, Lesco experimental, and commercial (alone and in combination) herbicide formulations and rates. |
