| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the involvement of the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) in the construction of a natural turf pitch for FC Metalist Kharkiv football club in Ukraine. Overviews STRI's development of a pitch ventilation and vacuum design called ISASS (in situ air sparging system), and details its installment in the pitch. States that "the main components of the ISASS system were fabricated and tested...and then loaded and transported to Ukraine." Notes that construction time lasted five and a half weeks, and concludes that "[having a] state of the art pitch...in Ukraine will continue to improve the image of natural turf in extreme climates and maybe prove that it is possible to have a great natural turf regardless of location." |
