Abstract/Contents:1988 update of test to evaluate long-term quality of new and experimental fineleaf fescue varieties including red, chewings, hard, and sheep fescue types. Established at Kentucky location 9/83 as part of National Fineleaf Fescue Variety Test. Forty-eight cultivars were seeded in three replications at the rate of 4.65 pounds per 1000 square feet. Three pounds of nitrogen per 1000 square feet are applied annually during the fall and early winter. The plots are maintained at a 1.5 inch mowing height. 1984-88 annual visual quality ratings (1 to 9; 9=best quality) appear in a table with a 5-year average and a least significant difference value for 1988. 5-year average ratings ranged from 2.5 (Tatjana, chewings) to 6.2 (Aurora, hard).
