Abstract/Contents: | Explains that North Oaks Golf Club in North Oaks, Minnesota is potentially one of the few clubs in the state impacted by zebra mussels. Mentions that its irrigation source is connected directly to the Mississippi River and this may be how the zebra mussels are getting into the system. Reports that a dive team was employed by the course to scrape the irrigation screens of zebra mussel shells and that the pH (potential hydrogen) of the water, as high as 9.3, was reduced to 6.4 to kill zebra mussel larvae. Concludes that, "yup, zebra mussels are here to stay and yes they are an issue to contend with." |
