| Abstract/Contents: | 1988 study to evaluate several commercial and experimental herbicides for preemergent control of smooth crabgrass in an established Adelphi and Kenblue Kentucky bluegrass turf near Lexington, Ky. In late March, the area was vertically mowed, clippings removed and seeded with crabgrass seed. Initial treatments were applied on April 14. Three replications of forty treatments were applied to individual 6 foot x 10 foot plots. Throughout the season, the turf was mowed at 1.5 inches. Irrigation was applied as necessary to prevent dormancy. A table provides herbicides, formulations, application rates, and % crabgrass control on 6/27, 7/19, 7/28, 8/23, and 9/8. |
