| Abstract/Contents: | Addresses the idea that aesthetics should not trump playability. Discusses how a golf course should have an overall attractive appearance, and encourages that the golfer not focus on major blemishes. Advises that the expense of correcting minor color blemishes on the golf course is very high. Explains, "some golf courses can maintain firm, fast conditions and a canvas of green, but most cannot." Emphasizes how decisions must be made by the course official, "maintain to keep everything green in the interest of aesthetics, or apply only enough water, fertilizer, and pesticides to keep the vast majority of the grass green." Concludes by stating, "the desire for the golf course is to have better playability with and an overall attractive appearance, but not necessarily perfect green color." |
