| Abstract/Contents: | 1986 update of test to evaluate the long-term quality of new and experimental varieties (red, chewings, hard, sheep fescue types). Test was established 9/83 in a Kentucky location as part of National Fineleaf Fescue Variety Test. Forty-eight cultivars were seeded (3 replications) at the rate of 4.65 pounds per 1000 square feet, and maintained at a mowing height of 1.5 inches. A table provides 1984-86 annual and 3-year average visual quality ratings (1 to 9; 9=best quality) with a least significant difference value for 1986. 3-year average ratings ranged from 3.2(Tatjana, chewings) to 6.6(Spartan and Aurora, hard; Bighorn, sheeps). |
