Abstract/Contents:Severe damage by F. nivale [Micronectriella nivalis] showed first on turf sown with Lolium perenne or contaminated with Poa annua. In a trial with 22 L. perenne cvs, He 136 was the least affected by the fungus (75% damage) and Ensporta, Lp 272, DSV-N35 and Jorktown were the most affected (95% damage). The greatest spread of the disease was during a 2-month period of snow cover. Turf containing mixtures of spp. were less affected than pure L. perenne turf even when the former contained a high proportion of L. perenne. F. nivale spread was favored by being the least satisfactory application date. Comments are made on the preventive and curative use of fungicides.
