Abstract/Contents: | In attending a program at a local High School Vocational Technical Center it was learned that there was a lack of concern by industry and the general public for programs that train students to enter the work force directly from high school. Many of the programs are in danger of being cancelled including college level programs, in the landscape industry. A way to change the problem is to inform the Technical Centers and Universities of the job openings available to students. The students can be informed that jobs are available for them and how far they can hope to advance their career based on the education they have acquired. The advisors can be informed of what is expected to be taught to the students before he/she is hired. |
