| Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes two 1986 tests to evaluate rates, chemical combinatons (with Fluff, Fe, Pendimethalin, Bensulide Turflon D, Trimec ester or amine), formulations, spray rates and soil moisture on the efficacy of Acclaim (Fenoxaprop-ethyl). Test 1 includes three replications. The test area was a well irrigated Kentucky bluegrass turf. The crabgrass was in approximately a 3-leaf stage when initial treatments were applied. Tables provide visual estimates of percent crabgrass control, bluegrass stunting, and crabgrass color. Best control was obtained with a single application of Acclaim, 1EC, 150 GPA, 0.35 lb ai/A. Initial crabgrass discoloration and Kentucky bluegrass stunting correlated with increased crabgrass control. Test 2 studied relationships of irrigation/soil moisture to the efficacy of Acclaim and MSMA when applied in one application. Three replications of treatments were made on August 15, 1986 to a Kentucky bluegrass turf that was maintained with 4 irrigation regimes (pre- and post-treatment, pre-treatment only, post-treatment only, none). Tables give percent crabgrass control, and Kentucky bluegrass stunting and growth in unmmowed plots. For Acclaim, best control was associated with pre- and post-treatment irrigation while for MGMA best control was provided with pre-treatment irrigation only. |
