| Abstract/Contents: | "Hydraulic conductivity was measured on three compacted sands amended with 0-60% of ten amendments. Results were generalized into six types of response curve. When amending particles were rigid and stable, effects on hydraulic conductivity were related to resulting particle size distributions. When amending particles were deformed or fractured by compacting forces, their effect on conductivity could not be anticipated. Often, large additions of amendment were needed to affect conductivity. Knowledgeable use of amendments needs to be based on laboratory physical tests." |
