Abstract/Contents:Describes the renovations to the University of Guelph athletic fields, required due to the increase in the student body population and subsequently in the amount of varsity sports teams between 1971 and 2009. Claims that the main problems presented by the facilities were wear and tear from overuse, and the inability to host external clients. Explains that per recommendation from the Consulting Services Division of the Guelph Turfgrass Institute, the University implemented two full-sized artificial soccer pitches, a half-size lit practice field, and a natural grass rugby field. Concludes that "the additional artificial fields have allowed the Grounds Department to focus on the remaining natural grass fields and this year, Alumni Stadium was in the best condition it has been in since 1992."
