Abstract/Contents:Discusses the history of golf equipment and golf architecture and describes how the golf industry has evolved over time in Europe and in the United States. States that "of all the various changes and modifications of equipment the changes and modifications to the golf ball have had the most impact on golf course design." Suggests that as the game of golf changes, golf courses must also change to "protect the characteristics and traditions of golf."
