| Abstract/Contents: | Addresses how developing technology may be affecting the everyday practices of the superintendent. Describes a website called Sprinkler-Times which provides a smartphone application to help people set their sprinkler run times by geographic location. Challenges the United States Golf Association Rule 16-1c which does not allow the repair of spike or scuff marks on the green because such repairs would slow down play. Argues that scuff around the hole is unpleasant to putt over and that the rule should be amended in favor of smoother greens. Concludes by announcing that the 2012 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Conference and Golf Industry Show will be held in Las Vegas. |
