| Abstract/Contents: | Reports that in 2011, Texas experienced a drought that took a toll on turfgrass producers, livestock, and crop producers alike. Cites the United States Drought Monitor as reporting that 94 percent of Texas suffered from either "extreme or exceptional drought, the most severe categories." Mentions that July 2011 was the hottest month ever recorded to that date. Mentions Travis Miller, Professor of Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University, as saying it "will be the largest agricultural loss we have ever experienced," estimating the farmers and ranchers would stand to lose 8 billion dollars. |
