Abstract/Contents:Discusses different types of ants that may be found building their nests on golf courses. Lists the different types of ants: red ants, carpenter ants, driver ants, foraging ants, and white ants. Details the development of ants and how they are fond of sugar. Explains that many greenkeepers have tried to exterminate the ants with a mixture of sugar and borax, but were unsuccessful. Advises using a treatment of bi-sulfide of carbon. States that "care should be taken when using Bi-Sulfide of Carbon, either alone or in a mixture. If used too strong it will kill the grass. It is also highly explosive." Mentions a potentially efficient method to be used on putting greens for the extermination of ants.
