Abstract/Contents: | Presents an update from the University of Rhode Island Organic Lawn Fertilizer Trial for the year 2009. States that "turf quality was evaluated in July, August, and September...Overall turf quality declined over the course of the summer as turf density decreased and crabgrass and dandelions invaded." Continues that "in October there were significant differences in clipping yield among the products, but no product was significantly better than the no-fertilizer control." Details the soil sample results and pore water test results. Concludes that "in general we found few differences among the products, or between the products and the no-fertilizer plots...Most importantly, none of the fertilizer treatments resulted in improved turf quality over the no-fertilizer control plots." |
