| Abstract/Contents: | Evaluated Chipco 26019 50W, Benlate 50W, Bay NTN 50W, and Bayleton 50W for control of spring dead spot. All fungicides were at 8 oz/1000 ft2. Sixteen widely spaced dead spots were marked in bermudagrass plots at UK Spindletop Farm near Lexington during May, 1982. Fungicide treatment plots were established on the dead spots in a completely random design. Each 6 x 10 ft plot was designed to cover 1/2 of a dead spot with the midpoint of the 10 ft side coinciding with the center of the dead spot. Treatments were replicated 4 times, once in each of the 4 cardinal directions from the center of the spot, and placed in a completely random design. Fungicide treatments were applied at the rate of 2 gal/1000 ft2 at 25 psi with a backpack sprayer equipped with a 6 ft boom having 4 nozzles. The unsprayed half of each plot was protected from treatment using a plastic tarp. All treatments were made Nov 19, 1982. Spring dead spot disease ratings were made Jun 9 1983 using a system based on comparison of treated vs untreated halves of the plots. Fungicide rates used in this single application treatment were relatively high. Some of the fungicide treatments improved the appearance of the treated half of the plot up to 30%, however fungicide-aided recovery was not statistically significant. |
