Abstract/Contents:Discusses summer patch, a root disease caused by the fungus Magnaporthe poae. Explains that this disease is most harmful to Annual bluegrass (Poa Annua), Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis), and fine fescues. Suggests that this disease can be managed through appropriate methods of pesticide application. Mentions a study done in summer 2009/2010 in which samples were collected from golf courses that showed signs of fungi that were suggested to be Magnaporthe Poae. Details a field study done in 2010 by the Guelph Turfgrass Institute on Poa Annua that tested seven different varieties of fungi.
