| Abstract/Contents: | 1982 update of 2 tests at a Kentucky location to evaluate long-term quality of certain new and experimental fine leaf red, chewing, and hard fescues. Test 1, established fall 1976, includes 10 varieties in 3 replications receiving 3 lbs N/M/YR during fall and early winter and mowed at 2". A table provides 1977-82 annual and 6-year average visual quality ratings (1 to 9;9=best qualtiy) with significant differences (SD) indicated for 1982. 6-year average ratings ranged from 3.2 (Highlight) to 6.4 (G-26). Test 2, established 9/79, includes 16 cultivars in 4 replications receiving 1 1/2 lbs N/M/YR in October and maintained at 2 1/2". A table provides May and June and 1982 average visual quality ratings with SD indicated for 1982. 1982 average ratings ranged from 4.4 (Momm FRC 64) to 5.5 (Scaldis). |
