Abstract/Contents:First report of evaluation of 6 bermudagrass cultivars (Midiron, Guymon x 109786, NK 78098, U-3, Tufcoat, Common) established in 1976 or 1978 at a Kentucky location. A table provides establishment date, % spring green up on 5/20/82, 6/23/82, and 7/22/82 and texture in 1982. Common had worst green-up with coarse texture while Midiron had best green-up and medium-coarse texture. Spring dead spot has continually limited spring green-up of Tufcoat and U-3 Midiron. No spring dead spot was detected in the Guyman selection from Oklahoma. This selection (very coarse texture) can be established by seeding and will likely be released by Oklahoma in 1983 or 1984. Two other cultivars, Quicksand (collected at U.K. Robinson substation at Quicksand) and Vamont (a new Virginia cultivar) were established 9/82 and had medium texture.
