Abstract/Contents:Discusses the importance of "faster greens" and how it potentially reflects the managing skills of the golf course superintendent. Suggests that the "most scrutinized part of a golf course by the average golfers is the greens, and most often it is the speed of the greens that is remembered." Notes that it is the golfer's opinion of the course that affects the outcome of the success of the golf course or club. Highlights the use of slower greens, suggesting that slower greens are easier to put in, pace-of-play, and plant health. Explains "The Anticipation Theory" and why it might contribute to the popularity to the "faster green."
