Abstract/Contents:Describes the problem of Canada geese on golf courses, including droppings on fairways that may affect green quality and playability. Includes restrictions and regulations against golf clubs, mentioning that "Canada geese are migratory waterfowl protected under federal and state laws" that need to be kept in mind while controlling these pests. Suggests that the major problem with Canada geese is their reproductivity rate. Suggests that habitat changes will decrease the number of Canada geese, but not affect the aesthetics of the golf course, including "steepening the banks of ponds makes them less attractive to geese." Also suggests that exclusion methods like building a fence around ponds will "discourage geese from using them." States that geese prefer areas and habitats with minimal disturbances so using deterrents could potentially be effective. Recommends egg addling and destruction for a decrease in the Canada geese population. Gives steps on how to addle an egg successfully.
