| Abstract/Contents: | "Data from 43 cultivars, representing all the types of red fescue used as turfgrasses, show wide variation in persistence under mowing and persistence under artificial wear treatment, the two being closely correlated in this trial. The results under wear agree with those from the Netherlands and France, and it is suggested that the most wear-tolerant form of red fescue might be a blend of good cultivars of Chewings fescue and of slender creeping red fescue. No cultivar of strong creeping red fescue showed good persistence under mowing or artificial wear." |
