| Abstract/Contents: | "'Highland' bent is generally treated as a cultivar of Agrostis tenuis Sibth. Because of its widespread amenity use in the U.K. there is urgent need to clarify its botanical status. Some of its characteristics are described in this paper, mainly from the turfgrass points of view, and information is given on its possible origin, its current description and importance in the U.S.A., and some recent comments on its taxonomy. New Zealand browntop bent is also briefly discussed in relation to Highland, and the similarity between 'Dryland' browntop and Highland is pointed out." |
