Abstract/Contents:"Derby perennial ryegrass established much quicker than Kenhy Tall Fescue in this replicated test initiated in April, 1980. Ryegrass seed planted with the John-Deere Power-Till seeder germinated but did not give the turf cover that was obtained by verticutting or just broadcasting the seed over the unprepared surface. The use of Roundup as a renovation tool was very helpful in removing the competition from Kentucky bluegrass but only killed about 50-60% of the tall fescue clumps that were present prior to renovation. Since the Roundup was applied in early spring while nimblewill remained dormant, nimblewill became dominant in unseeded plots. However, where seeded with perennial ryegrass, the nimblewill was reduced by 50-75%."
