| Abstract/Contents: | "We are entering a period of time where spending, ecspecially of public money is coming under increased scrutiny. Pressure on local and regional authorities, schol and sports clubs to justify spending and cap fee increases has increased. This has in turn led to revisions of long term plans, and ultimately will lead to the reduction of operating budgets. The sport and recreation sector is not immune to the recession and these reductions will have an impact on the maintenance budgest available for sports fields. Consequently how we look after the fields under our control will also need to change in order to maintain performance. How do we deal with these reductions at an operational level while maintaining the performance we have achieved in the past? This session will look at some strategies to maintain performance including taking back to basics approach, focusing on the essentials, those tasks that need to be carried out to provide a playing surface." |
