Abstract/Contents: | Announces that 1999 represented the 50th year of operation for the New Zealand Sports Turf Institute. States that the development and use of playing surfaces in New Zealand has increased, placing challenges on turf managers, adding "the modern day turf manager requires good management and communication skills in addition to sound technical training." Briefly discusses turf managers in formally recognized turf training programs, and expresses desire to formally train more turf managers. Concludes by mentioning the increase of sports fields and golf courses in the northern regions of New Zealand switching to warm-season turf. |
