Abstract/Contents: | Explains that while turfgrass has been used at tombs and small banks around rice paddys in Korea, turfgrass use for lawns or sports fields has historically been minimal. Includes that the golf industry grew fast in response to Korea hosting the 2002 World Cup soccer games. Mentions that the Korean Golf Course Owners Association founded the Korean Turfgrass Research Center "for research, technical support and education of greenkeeper[s]". Reports that zoysiagrass is the most common cultivar used for research, and thus controlling Rhizoctonia solani AG2-2(IV) is a concern. Notes that other research being conducted includes "genetic studies and breeding of interspecific hybrid zoysiagrasses." |
