| Abstract/Contents: | The fundamental interest in stormwater infiltration comes from a broad concept of water resources. In addition to the flooding addressed by detention systems, infiltration can help support groundwater recharge, stream base flows, water quality, and the benefits of aquatic life, recreation, aesthetics, and water supplies. This article includes broad issues of urban hydrology, stormwater infiltration, and technical implementation. Also discusses experiences with infiltration in Long Island, Maryland, Florida, Arizona, and Georgia. Stormwater is an environmental process. |
