Abstract/Contents: | "In this area there are 25 varieties and 5 blends of Kentucky bluegrass. Also at this location, there are 5 varieties of perennial ryegrass and 10 varieties of fine fescue. Pennfine perennial ryegrass and C-26 hard fescue have done quite well, under plot conditions, for the last 8 years. The Kentucky bluegrass varieties in 1976 and 1977 were subjected to severe drought stress and at times received no supplemental irrigation for 6 week periods during the summer months. However, the Kentucky bluegrass varieties have exhibited an outstanding ability to recover from such abuse and produce an attractive turf once management has improved. This recovery potential from drought stress is an important attribute of Kentucky bluegrass frequently over-looked in the Region." |
