Abstract/Contents: | "Since 1969 the S.T.R.I. has made two-stage cultivar trials at Bingley. New material goes into a preliminary trial, normally with only one treatment. From this the most promising cultivars go forward to a main trial, with two or three treatments, while the less promising ones can be reassessed at preliminary trial level, if the breeder wishes, to make sure that the initial verdict was right. It has lately been most convenient to sow new preliminary and main trials of each main species in rotation - Lolium perenne, Poa pratensis, Festuca spp. and Agrostis spp." Shows the management of three separate trials of Lolium perenne. |
