| Abstract/Contents: | "Considering the amounts of money being spent on acquiring and developing land for school playing fields and amenity areas it is of the utmost importance that results of intensive and prolonged research into turfgrass selection and breeding, playing field construction, maintenance equipment and turf fertilizers be readily available to the Playing Fields Officer, thus ensuring that the fullest practical use is made of research results... To ensure that the final steps are right, further research is required into sowing and incorporating grass seed into the soil, correct methods of seed bed preparation and the use of pre-seeding fertilizers." A summary of details of various methods of playing field development are provided by the Playing Fields Officers from selected parts of the U.K. |
