Abstract/Contents:"A report from Nebraska suggests that approximately only one out of six applicators on golf course (17%) were applying pesticides accurately (within five percent of their carrier volume) based on a survey conducted in that state. Sixty-seven percent of the applicators who calibrated before each spraying were within the five percent range. None of the applicators at the nine hole courses were within five percent whereas two-thirds of the applicators at the 18 hole courses were within the acceptable range. Inaccurate application can lead to ineffective control, increased costs and poor turf performance or injury. Constant and proper ground speed, uniform and appropriate nozzle output, spacing and pressure can help to insure proper application technique."
