Abstract/Contents: | Nitrogen fertilizer sources can be divided into two general categories, quickly available and slowly available. Using a mixture of slowly and quickly available sources permits a turf manager to minimize many fertilization problems including foliar burn, growth surges, nutrient leaching, and high cost. Slowly available sources are discussed including, ureaformaldehyde, methylene ureas, IBDU, and coated ureas. Choosing nitrogen sources is not a matter to be taken lightly. Matching nitrogen carrier release characteristics to seasonal environmental conditions and turf growth characteristics is essential to good turf nutrition. |
