Abstract/Contents: | "Dr. Reed Funk's contributions of new lawn varieties read like a "Who's Who" in the Hall of Fame of the turfgrass industry. His research contributions have dramatically changed and improved the environment." When Funk became assistant professor in 1961, this was the first full-time university position in the U.S. devoted exclusively to the development of better turfgrass varieties. Nearly every year Funk and his colleagues manage to produce a hardy new variety of turfgrass. The article goes on to describe the many accomplishments of Dr. Funk. |
